Officials in New Jersey say they are not evacuating the state because of Hurricane Florence’s path.
Chris Christie says a team of 100 National Guard personnel is on standby in the state.
The governor says the National Guard is assisting state officials in evacuating residents to other states.
Christie says he’s confident the situation will be under control and says people should return to their homes as soon as possible.
The governor says it’s not clear if people should stay in their homes.
We’ll do our best to keep the public safe, Christie says.

John Baldacci says officials will be monitoring Hurricane Florence as it makes its way toward the Jersey Shore.
The state’s governor has urged people to evacuate to the safest place.
The storm is expected to strengthen Monday afternoon.
It is expected by the end of the day to make landfall near Cape Hatteras, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and the U,S. mainland.
