University of Minnesota officials are offering a $200,000 scholarship for students who take a class in the U.S. and can demonstrate “a significant interest” in their chosen field.
“Students who demonstrate interest in a given subject will receive a $20,000 grant,” the university said in a statement.
“The scholarship will be awarded in May 2019.”
It is unclear how many students will be selected, and the university will not provide an exact number, but said that there will be “substantial interest” among students.
“We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of this unique university and to explore and apply our research and education in the field of neuroscience,” university spokesman Michael Kugler said.
The school also said it will continue to work to develop research programs in its biological sciences and social sciences.
“For the first time, the University of Iowa will offer an interdisciplinary neuroscience program, and we are excited to bring our students from both the biological and social science departments to Iowa to experience what this amazing university has to offer,” Iowa Gov.
Terry Branstad said in the statement.
University of California, Berkeley, said it has also been looking for students to take a neuroscience class.
“This is an exciting opportunity for students from Berkeley to continue their education at UC Berkeley,” UC Berkeley said in its statement.
In December, the Department of Homeland Security announced a program that will give a $1 million grant to universities to develop “the most effective and adaptable” tools to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
A grant of up to $50 million would go to the University at Buffalo, which has been at the center of a public-relations battle over the coronavet virus, and California State University, Los Angeles.
In March, a U.K. government study said that the number of deaths in the United Kingdom from coronaviral disease had more than doubled in the past year, while the number in the rest of the world had remained relatively flat.
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for more than 2,500 health workers to be deployed in the affected regions to help in the fight against the virus.
The U.s. is expected to see more than 15,000 new cases in October, a trend that has prompted concern about the spread and possible spread of coronaviruses.
In October, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that some hospitals and clinics across the United States were not properly prepared to deal with the spread.
“In the United states, coronavivirus infections are more than 10 times higher than in the developed world and nearly twice as common,” CDC Director Tom Frieden said in an email.
“There are no easy answers, and as a society, we must be willing to try new things and learn from the experience.
But we cannot rely on our current health care systems, which are failing.
We need a new system that is proven, can deliver the right kind of care to those who need it, and can reduce deaths.”
