Oklahoma State University has fired a student for posing in a Confederate-themed flag during a school photo op.
The Oklahoma Student Union at Oklahoma State has voted in favor of firing 18-year-old Christian Ponder for the controversial act.
Ponder was photographed holding up a Confederate monument to honor the Confederacy on the Oklahoma State campus.
The photo was posted on Instagram on Saturday, and the Oklahoma Student Association says it has filed a complaint against Ponder with the university.
Pompeo has also said he plans to “review” the way the university handles the issue.
Powells’ tweet about the Confederate flag comes days after the Oklahoma City bombing, which left six people dead.
