The University of Central Florida (UCF) will open a 50,065-square foot space in the Orlando suburb of West Palm Beach that is part of the school’s $750 million construction program.
The university’s athletic department announced Thursday that it has purchased the building for $7 million, and the team will move into the newly-named “Florida Sports Complex.”
The complex, which opened in December, will house all the sports operations of the university, including the football program.
UCF athletic director Jeff Longo said the stadium will also host the UCF Men’s Tennis team, the University’s lacrosse team and other sports activities.UCF will have its first football team in 2018, Longo added.
The team is scheduled to arrive in November and begin playing in 2019.
The $750-million project, which was completed earlier this year, included a large football stadium that will seat nearly 1,500 people.
It also includes an athletic training facility and a $250-million, 10,000 square foot campus-wide facility.
